Integration with Other Systems

Each receiver head has a relay contact for alarm reporting and a two way RS-485 connection. The RS-485 data can be passed through to a computer running ASIM-S management software.    

TheRS-485 link is used for detector setup and remote adjustments as well as for signal monitoring.    It can be used temporarily during installation or can be permanently wired for remote access to the detector from the security control center .  Up to 32 detectors can be linked on a single data bus with a maximum bus length of 3,300ft (1000m).  

 ASIM-S Setup and Management Software

The installation software is available as an accessory for alignment, set up, and fault finding.  It can be used for remote programming and verification fo all detectors connected to the same RS 485 data bus.  To operate the software on a standard PC, an RS-485 to RS-232 converter is required.  The interface unit IF 485B is available as an accessory.

ASIM-S is recommended for as a tool for all installations to optimize the performance of the detectors.   Monitoring and interpreting the information supplied by the installation software will help with sensor alignment and best setting of detector parameters.  This is especially helpful when animal activity, vegetation moving in the wind and/or other sources of disturbance are thought to be the cause of nuisance/false alarms.
